Société Nationale Industrielle et Minière- SNIM The National Company for Industry and Mines (SNIM) is a Mauritanian company specializing in the extraction and export of iron ore, which was established in the 1930s under the name "Meferma", before the Mauritanian government nationalized it in the 1970s and became its current name "SNIM". Snim plays an important role in the lives of the urban communities in the north of the country, especially Zouerate and Nouadhibou. This importance is prominent both economically and socially. The company employs approximately 10.000 workers permanently along with a number of other seasonal workers.
