Algerian Qatari Steel (AQS) is enhancing the industrial safety system at its El-Boutlélis complex in Jijel province by implementing systems for hazard identification, assessment, and control, alongside work permits, energy source isolation, safe operating procedures, and emergency plans. The company supports this system through continuous training, inspections, audits, and incident/near-miss investigations, in line with modern industry requirements.

Algerian Qatari Steel was established in 2013 as a partnership between Algeria and Qatar. The El-Boutlélis complex represents one of the main steel industry projects in Algeria.

Its production capacity is approximately 2.2 million tons of liquid steel annually, while the rolling units' capacity reaches about 2 million tons per year of rebar and wire coils.

The system also includes a direct reduction plant with a capacity of 2.5 million tons per year, providing an integrated base for steel production from reduced iron to final products.

Through these capacities, the company aims to meet a significant portion of the Algerian market's needs, in addition to boosting steel product exports to foreign markets.
