The Ministry of Industry, Trade, Investment and Digital Economy in the Kingdom of Morocco revealed the import quotas of rebar and wire coils for the year 2020, without changing the import volume of 106,294 tons of rebar and 146,410 tons of wire coils. SMM Socadam Davum, a leader in the building materials sector, had the largest share of rebar imports, with the company's total customs duty volume reaching 44%, while Rivera Metal, which has an extensive supply network across the country, became a major buyer of wire coils with a 31% share. The government announced that imports that exceed the mentioned quotas will be subject to fees of 550 Moroccan dirhams/ton ($56.5/ton, where dollars are equal). Despite restrictions on imports, the Kingdom of Morocco still imports in an orderly manner, according to preliminary data for 2019 issued by the International Trade Center. Morocco imported at least 283,000 long products from Turkey with an import volume of 156,000 tons, followed by Portugal 79,018 and then Spain 32,676 tons for the year.
