In July this year, Japan's exports of iron and steel products reached 2.48 million tons, down 19.8 percent month-on-month and 18.9 percent year-on-year, according to customs statistics released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF). From January to July this year, Japanese iron and steel product exports reached 19.43 million tons, down 2.8% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Regarding Japan's main iron and steel product export markets, in the first seven months of this year, the country's iron and steel exports to South Korea totaled 3.31 million tons, up 27.3%, while exports to China fell 20.3% to 2.46 million tons, exports to Taiwan reached 1.16 million tons, down 15.6%, and exports to Thailand totaled 3.05 million tons, down 15.4%, while total exports to the United States reached 730,698 tons, up 10.4% over the year.
