According to the latest report issued by the World Steel Organization on crude steel production, Arab countries' crude steel production amounted to 3.6 million tons in October 2024, an increase of 0.4% compared to October 2023. Egypt topped Arab countries in steel production in October with a production 950,000 tons and a decline of 7.3%. It was followed by Saudi Arabia with a production 840,000 tons and a decline of 2.4%. Algeria came in third place with a production 400,000 tons, an increase of 8.1% compared to October 2023. In the period from January to October 2024, Arab countries' crude steel production to 33.6 million tons, an increase of 1.7% compared to the same period last year. Egypt topped Arab countries in crude steel production in January - October 2024 with a production 8.9 million tons, an increase of 4.8%. It was followed by Saudi Arabia with a production 7.9 million tons, a decline of 4.9%. Algeria came in third place with a production 3.7 million tons, an increase of 1.4% compared to the same period in 2023. The Gulf region accounted for about 48% of the Arab countries' production with a production volume of 16.3 million tons. Saudi Arabia leads it with about 48% of the region's production. The North Africa region accounted for 43% of the Arab countries' production with a production 14.5 million tons. Egypt leads it with 61% of the region's production. The Eastern Mediterranean region accounted for 9% of the Arab countries' production with a production 2.8 million tons. Iraq leads it with 88% of the region's production.
