China's steel production increased in the first quarter of this year

Industrial data showed that China's steel sector witnessed an expansion in production in the first quarter of this year. From January to March, crude steel production rose 6.1 per cent year-on-year to 262 million tonnes, according to the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA). The data showed that iron ore production increased by 7.6 per cent from the previous year to 220 million tonnes during this period CISA data also showed that rolled steel production recorded an annual increase of 5.8 per cent to 333 million tonnes. In March alone, crude steel production rose 6.9 per cent to 95.73 million tonnes and more than 3.08 million tonnes daily, according to CISA. Iron ore production rose 7.3 per cent year-on-year to 78.07 million tonnes last month, while rolled steel production recorded an 8.1 per cent year-on-year increase, CISA reported.
