Libya: The Ministry of Industry restarts the oxygen plant of the Libyan Iron and Steel Company

The Minister of Industry and Minerals, Ahmed Abu Heisa, visited the oxygen factory at the wire drawing headquarters of the Libyan Iron and Steel Company, accompanied by the Undersecretary for Production and Industrial Zones, Mustafa Al-Sammo.

The media center of the ministries, bodies and institutions of the Libyan government stated that Abu Hissa said, “The factory is considered ready for production after being re-maintained by the company’s technicians and some volunteer experts.”

For his part, Mustafa Al-Sammo said, "This visit is an encouragement to the maintenance and operation shifts to emphasize their important role."

The oxygen factory is one of the oldest factories, as it opened in 1977 and stopped production for several times, the last of which was in 2013. The factory is preparing for continuous production in the near period to contribute to supplying free oxygen to isolation centers and citizens, as the factory produces about 200 cylinders per day.

The Ministry of Industry and Minerals intends to operate a number of stalled and suspended factories in the near future.
