Pakistan’s scrap imports up 36.1% in May from April 2024

Pakistan’s scrap imports amounted to 250,734 mt in May this year, rose by 36.1% compared to April and by 50.1% year on year, according to the data released by the Pakistan Federal Bureau of Statistics (PFBS). The value of these imports in the given month was $113.34 million, up by 36.5% month on month and by 66.1% year on year. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s iron and steel imports in May amounted to 302,412 mt, increasing by 67.6% year on year and by 28.5% compared to the previous month. In the given month, the value of Pakistan’s iron and steel imports was $207.10 million, moving up by 46.7% year on year and by 8.3% month on month.
