Qatar Steel develops the SwingDoorTM electric oven in cooperation with INTECO PTI

PTI has received an order from Qatar Steel to supply SwingDoorTM equipment for the development of the company's electric furnace. The new SwingDoorTM technology will help improve slag foam control by keeping the slag door closed for almost the entire heating period. And the slag door will only be opened for annealing temperature sampling and slag removal by keeping the slag door closed, so less energy is lost, less carbon is consumed, and more yield is preserved. The SwingDoorTM technology contributes to indirect savings in CO2 emissions, through electrical energy consumption and reduced consumption of electrodes. The company's production capacity is 2.3 million tons of DRI, 2.5 million tons of billets, 1.8 million tons of rebar, and 240,000 tons of wire coils.
