According to preliminary US Census Bureau data, the United States imported 1,505,000 net tons (NT) of steel products in February 2020, of which 1,344,000 net tons (NT) were finished steel products (a decrease of 52.2% and 18.4%, respectively, compared to last January).
While total steel imports during the period January-February of this year amounted to 4,655,000 net tons (NT), a decrease of 21.3%, and 2,992,000 net tons (NT) of finished steel products, a decrease of 28.7% compared to the same period in 2019.
