In a move aimed at strengthening domestic industry and stimulating the job market, US President Donald Trump announced his approval of a strategic partnership between Japan's Nippon Steel and US Steel to produce steel in the United States. Trump explained in a post on Truth Social on Friday that this deal will contribute to the creation of at least 70,000 jobs and inject $14 billion into the US economy over the coming period. The former president indicated that the bulk of this ambitious project will be implemented within the next 14 months, adding that US Steel's headquarters will remain in Pittsburgh, reinforcing the symbolism of preserving America's industrial identity in one of the most prestigious steel cities. The deal represents further evidence of the return of economic policies focused on domestic manufacturing and demonstrates that Washington seeks to strengthen its production infrastructure by attracting foreign investment to the US in strategic sectors such as the steel industry.
