Hisham Tawfiq, Minister of the Public Business Sector, visited the companies Al-Nasr for Steel Pipes Manufacturing, Al-Nasr for Forgings Manufacturing, and the Egyptian Company for Metal Construction “Metalco,” affiliated with the Holding Company for Metallurgical Industries, one of the companies of the Ministry of Public Business Sector, in order to discuss ways to reform and develop these companies to extricate them from their stumble, within the framework of field follow-up tours to determine the conditions of the affiliated companies.

This comes in conjunction with the completion of technical evaluation studies for the three companies’ factories and determining development mechanisms, which were carried out by “RCG,” a global Swiss consulting company specialized in providing consultations related to metallurgical industries.

The Minister began his visits by meeting with companies’ managements and executive leaders, where he listened to an explanatory explanation about each company’s activity, its products, current challenges, and development proposals, in the presence of Dr. Medhat Nafie, President of the Holding Company for Metallurgical Industries, members of the Board of Directors, Engineer Khaled Al-Feki, President of the General Syndicate for Engineering and Metallurgical Industries, and a number of ministry leaders.

Hisham Tawfiq also reviewed the reports of the RCG Consulting Company regarding the conclusions of the studies it conducted on these companies and the recommendations issued by them, identifying the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges, the comprehensive technical evaluation of the production lines, development scenarios, their feasibility indicators, and the investment cost.

During his visit to the companies, the Minister toured the companies' product showrooms, departments, factories and production lines, where he followed all stages of the manufacturing and production processes.

The Minister praised the efforts and skills of the workers, directing the rapid implementation of reform and development plans for these companies and the replacement and renewal of some machines, with the need to pay attention to improving marketing and sales methods, adding new products, developing human resources and making optimal use of available resources. In this context, the Minister stressed the Ministry's keenness to reform and restructure its subsidiaries as long as the factors and ingredients for success are available and the feasibility of development is proven.
